- YELLOW SUMMER -

Seasonal Poem Intro

the window is open at night,

letting the heated room breathe.

the car is getting cooler,

but the outside is fiery hot.

the bright sun heats up my skin and

my dark tinted shades help me admire

the youthful yellow energy.

my zest for life cycling back.

The very beginning of Sketch for Summer sets the tone for the entire song with chirping birds singing outside. It is a typical sound of the outdoors in the summer, joined with The Durutti Column's guitar chords and riffs full of spirit and zest. The sound is utterly sunny, welcoming the start of a new hot summer day with the blinding sun coming through the window.

Music Section and Personal Description

Breezin' is a ball of sunshine. The violins and the woodwinds begin the song with a majestic and warm welcome. From then, George Benson's guitar takes over and becomes the center of attention through its improvisations and jolly and optimistic-sounding guitar chords. The violins and the woodwinds give a youthful

feel whilst sounding like pure lemon coloured yellow. The track is in a major scale, therefore filling the entire listen with positivity.

Franz Gordon's Two Weeks in July seems to tell the story of a mid-summer getaway far from the city. To me, it sounds like the time in summer where time seems to stop and a bittersweet feeling comes around, knowing that summer is almost coming to an end. The sentimental piano piece is delicate and warm, associating with the sweet moments of summer with a warm yellow sunset accompanying them.

Like its title, Blue Sky and Yellow Sunflowers explore the clear imagination of a clear blue sky with a field of various types of yellow sunflowers. With a rhythmic loop, sparkly ringing sounds, majestic vocal harmonies, and various samples including Clair de Lune by Debussy, the track implementations offer a boost of energy and hope to daydream. The sample of a decrescendo suddenly appearing in the track sounds like an unexpected heatwave from the burning sun.
