Artist Statement
Today, I approach music directly through improvising melodies on the piano, as well as experimenting with my MIDI keyboard and a variety of accessible music softwares in my free time. My appreciation for music has also expanded with the art of music sharing and recommending by curating personal and digital music playlists via music streaming platforms with various themes, categories, and moods for myself or people in my life. Whether I practice music in a hands-on manner or use it to create stronger bonds with individuals, it is ultimately a way for me to connect with myself and enhance my music knowledge.
Moreover, I tend to also randomly create sketches or drawings of shapes, patterns, and designs with a focus on bright colours. I either use a sketchbook, any piece of paper, or my computer with any accessible software to generate any creative ideas from my brain. The presence of vivid and contrasting colours is a core aspect of my art and general appreciation because it makes me feel captivated, stimulated, and connected while creating or looking at any piece. I have an all-around more happy mindset with colorful shades surrounding every art I produce and it helps me to express creative expression.
Furthermore, one of my favourite ways of practicing creative writing is poetry. I write nonfiction poems on paper and digitally about different themes such as coming of age, personal experiences, and any aspect that I love and desire to explore through poetry. I choose to write poems both under academic circumstances and on my own terms through various formats, types, and kinds of poems. I value poetry for holding meaningful messages and deep meanings in a short amount of words, as well as being a way to create a piece that is up to interpretation, which connects to more people. Through poetry, I put my inner and hidden emotions into words to process my feelings and intentions better.
